Importance of Connection

As we approach the summer months, I’m pleased to turn our attention to a cornerstone of our community: connection. In the rapidly evolving landscape of pharmacology, staying connected—with peers, mentors, and collaborators—is essential. As you likely know, the ASPET Annual Meeting is perhaps the most impactful event we host each year to create connection, as we brought over 1,000 pharmacologists together in Portland, Oregon in April earlier this year.

While the 2025 meeting has already passed, ASPET offers a variety of other ways to help you expand your network, enrich your research, and enhance your professional journey throughout the year.

  • Focus on Pharmacology Virtual Series: Our free, live, interactive webinars cover both scientific advancements and career development. They also include sessions that bring like-minded researchers together to learn from each other and build connections. You can find both upcoming webinars, as well as recordings of past sessions, at ASPET | Focus on Pharmacology Virtual Series.
  • ASPETConnect Online Community: This 24/7 platform connects you with division peers, committee chairs, and early-career researchers. It’s a dynamic space for discussions, mentorship, collaboration, and accessing webinar recordings. If you haven’t yet, I encourage you to log in and introduce yourself on ASPETConnect.
  • Regional Chapters: ASPET’s chapters are vibrant local hubs for networking, seminars, and scientific exchange. These groups foster connections and spotlight local research efforts. I attended the 2025 Great Lakes Chapter Annual Meeting earlier this month and got to witness firsthand how valuable coming together with your local colleagues can be.

By strengthening our connections, we reinforce ASPET’s goal to be the professional home for pharmacology and support each other’s careers. Thank you for being such a vital part of our Society—I look forward to seeing you online and in person in the weeks and months ahead.

Sincerely,
