Israel Hanin, PhD, a member of ASPET since 1972, passed away on March 5 at the age of 88.
Dr. Hanin received his PhD in pharmacology at the University of California-Los Angeles, and then served as the director of psychopharmacology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. After that, he served as the Chairman of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics at Loyola University in Chicago from 1986 to 2003, where his research largely focused on cures for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. In addition to having significant work published on his studies in neurodegenerative diseases, including publishing the effects of treating Alzheimer’s disease with Glycosaminoglycan C3, he cofounded the Annual International Conference on Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease.
