Eric J. Nestler Elected to National Academy of Sciences
Eric J. Nestler, MD, PhD, Nash Family Professor of Neuroscience and Director of the Friedman Brain Institute at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, is among 120 members and 30 international members elected to the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) in recognition of their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research. This honor recognizes Dr. Nestler’s cutting-edge research on the molecular basis of drug addiction and depression and on advancing the field of psychiatry into the molecular era. Dr. Nestler has been an ASPET member since 1989. He was named the 2010 Ray Fuller Lecture recipient, an ASPET symposium series that brings together scientists from academia and industry to foster the free exchange of information.
