Dr. John A. Thomas
Dr. John A. Thomas, 92, passed away on November 15, 2025. Dr. Thomas served as professor of pharmacology and toxicology at several U.S. medical schools. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and his graduate studies at the University of Iowa. He was a 50-year member of ASPET and served on numerous society committees including the Toxicology Executive Committee, the Awards Committee and chairperson of many endocrine pharmacology sessions. He also served on numerous editorial boards, including Advances in Pharmacology. He served as Associate Dean of the School of Medicine at West Virginia University and Vice President at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He was the recipient of Distinguished Alumni Awards from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and the University of Iowa. Professor Thomas was also the recipient of governmental agencies recognition including the EPA, the FDA, the NIEHS, and the NLM. He was an elected foreign member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.
