ASPET Congratulates Inductees of Florida Academy of Science, Engineering and Medicine
Congratulations to ASPET members Randy Blakely, PhD, and Gregg Fields, PhD, on their induction to the Florida Academy of Science, Engineering and Medicine! Drs. Blakely and Fields, both with Florida Atlantic University, were recognized for the significant scientific and societal impact of their research.
A member of ASPET since 1996, Dr. Blakely is the 2008 recipient of the Julius Axelrod Award, and has also been awarded the Daniel Efron Award from the ACNP, two Distinguished Investigator Awards from the Brain and Behavioral Research Foundation, a MERIT Award from the NIMH, a Zenith Award from the Alzheimer’s Association, and the Astellas Award in Translational Pharmacology. He is the executive director of FAU’s Stiles-Nicholson Brain Institute, the David J.S. Nicholson Distinguished Professor in Neuroscience, and a professor of biomedical science.
Dr. Fields joined ASPET in 2024. In 2019, he was appointed executive director of FAU’s Institute for Human Health and Disease Intervention, and in 2021 he became the co-director of the Memorial Cancer Institute Florida Atlantic University Cancer Center for Excellence. Dr. Fields is also a courtesy professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Herbert Wertheim UF Scripps Institute for Biomedical Innovation and Technology, and a Fellow of both the National Academy of Inventors and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
